Came to hang with a friend who wanted to do outdoor dining! They have tables inside and outside, depending on what you want. We were looking for a place with outdoor seating and fans to keep us cool during the summer and this place worked out great. I got the lucky bun burger and fries with an orange crush and it was amazing! The burger comes with two patties and it devoured it! Definitely recommend. So delicious!

It's been a long time since I visited Lucky Buns so I was curious if they still lived up to their reputation. I visited around 1 PM on Sunday and it wasn't very busy. They have a nice, mid-size, partially covered patio outside, which was a very pleasant spot to dine. I tried the Dirty Bird ($15, crispy fried chicken, shark sriracha hot sauce, lucky sauce, shrettuce, white onion, gordy's pickles) and the El Jefe ($16, double creekstone beef patties, american cheese, hatch green chili relish, cotija crema, yellow mustard, shrettuce, red onion, pickles). We decided not to have any drinks just as a break from alcohol. Normally, we would order fries ($8), but they are thick cut, which we despise. The sandwiches were both pretty good but not amazing. They looked gorgeous, just like how good sandwiches should look. The meat was cooked excellently in both cases, with a really excellent fry on the chicken. The toppings and sauces were all fresh and tasty. But overall, they tasted good but not quite as good as they looked. I felt like the flavors weren't very balanced from bite to bite. They needed a bit more sauce, or a bit more seasoning, or maybe brine the chicken first. The El Jefe didn't remind me of Mexican flavors, despite the ingredients. They were both a bit messy, as expected, and the waiter did well to bring over a few extra napkins without prompting. I'm sorry to say that Lucky Buns also charges a 4.9% fee which is *not* a gratuity and is also *not* mentioned on their website. The prices on the URL menu are also ~$1 more than the online menu. This is the highest non-gratuity fee I've seen anywhere and also the first I've seen missing from a website. Very disappointing. Lucky Buns needs to update their website ASAP and ideally remove the fee entirely. For transparency, here is the fee text: "Friends, things have been tough for our restaurant families. High inflation, rising wages and supply chain issues have continued beyond the pandemic creating a difficult operating environment. We have reluctantly chosen to implement a separate 4.9% fee for 2023 with the hope that it can be eliminated in the future as conditions improve. We appreciate your support and understanding. This fee is in leu of raising prices & is not a gratuity. Please tip your server accordingly! We love you all!"

Excellent burgers, good happy hour. Nice outdoor seating right on 18th street. Friendly staff. The chicken nuggets are some of the best bar food I've ever had in my life. Don't let the name fool you... crispy, delicious chicken with mint leaves, cilantro, and a Thai chilli sauce. Burgers are top notch as well.

Finally visited Lucky Buns - it's been on my list for years! We sat around 5:15 on a Saturday, service was SO quick! The Bogan Bun & Mumbo Bun were juicy & flavorful. I need to come back for brunch for the breakfast burrito! Very small inside, but cute ambiance.

I have been meaning to try out this spot for the longest time ever and finally got the opportunity to do so today (after living in DC for 4 years)! The burgers were absolutely delicious and the meat was the juiciest ever. We ordered takeout hence they may not seem as good as they are in photos. Lucky Bun comes with two patties and it would be good to order two burgers and split them into half with someone else so that you get to try more items on the menu! One can also never ever go wrong with a fried chicken burger. Would love to try the store at union market one day.

After a bourbon tasting across the street at Jack Rose Dining Saloon, my friend and I walked into the original Lucky Buns inside what looks like a corner bar on a Thursday evening around 9 p.m. We got a table right away and within minutes, we were enjoying hot thick fries and burgers. The "Bogan Bun" was excellent if you like bacon. (It comes with bacon jam and bacon.) "Lucky sauce" is on most of their burgers and it makes it pop. Service was excellent, treating you like regulars.

Best burgers in DC! The food here is outstanding, and the happy hour specials ($6 nachos and wings from 5-7pm on weekdays) are so worth it. Service was extremely prompt and kind, and the interior is so cute! The restaurant filled up quickly, which created a fun if loud environment. The Bogan Bun is outrageously good. Visit this place quickly!
